On March 1-2, 2011 the Inaugural Progress Meeting of the National Population Health Study of Neurological Conditions (NPHSNC) was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. With over 140 researchers, stakeholders, government officials, and NHCC Members present, guests got a glimpse of some of the work currently underway across Canada.

Although the NPHSNC involves a suite of projects focused on the incidence and prevalence, impact, risk and health service utilization of our priority conditions, the final culmination of this work will result in a picture of the neurological landscape of Canada.

National Surveys:
The three surveys being developed as part of the study are:

Micro-simulation

The development of a micro-simulation model will be utilized to project the costs and impacts of neurological conditions on Canadians over the next 5, 10, 15 and 20 years. As part of the Government of Canada’s initiative to build onto existing projects, this piece has been committed to the Statistics Canada POHEM model.
